So I took the plunge and am sending in a layout for the So Sketchy guest designer spot for September. If nothing else, I have completed one more layout. Yay me :) I just recently moved so nothing has been happening in the craft room lately until now! So here is my layout:

My parents own a cabin and last year my dad decided to take my son out to the field nearby and help him fly his kite. Aiden had so much fun and I think my dad did too :)

Stampin' Out Alzheimers

I don't know about you but I often join the online crops and even do some of the challenges but I never actually get around to posting my pictures. So this time I kicked my butt and finally posted my first picture in the Stampin' Out Alzheimers Forum. I completed the sketch challenge for Taylored Expressions. Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge

I keep meaning to do some of these challenges I see on other people's blogs and I never end up doing anything so yesterday I decided that I was just going to do one no matter what. So what better to start with then Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge! So, here is my card using Bravo Burgundy, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, and Old Olive.

I'm too late to enter the challenge but I figured I might as well post it anyways. I came up with this idea because I am thinking of having Thanksgiving at my house this year and what could be better than a handmade invitation? The leaves are stamped on watercolor paper and then gone over with an aquapainter to soften the edges. The corners are paper pierced and the You're Invited stamp is done in Chocolate Chip directly on the watercolor paper. This whole piece is mounted on a piece of Old Olive and then on a So Saffron base.

The inside is stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla with the same leaves that are on the front. Then the other invitation information stamp is stamped in Chocolate Chip. The stamp sets used are Hugs & Wishes and Autumn Harvest. All materials are SU.

I think that it is really versatile because it could be used for a page about a couple, a wedding, or even the love of a parent for their child/children. I left the left side blank for journaling but it could be used for more pictures or embellishments if a person wanted to.

I got some new Elzybells today and I really wanted to try them out so I used the new Page Plans sketch to make a card for my friend Janice. If you've ever met Janice you know that this card fits her perfectly!

Another Option for Mother's Day Class

I decided to create another mini scrapbook for Mother's Day. This time with the Carousel Notes from the Occasions Mini Collection and some Fall Flowers Designer Series paper. I found this idea on Jan Tink's blog and changed things up a bit to work with the supplies I had on hand. I haven't finished it yet but just to give you an idea here are a couple of pictures:

I still have some more embellishing to do and of course pictures to add but the overall idea is here. If you would like to make one of these yourself, I am offering a class on May 8th. The class fee of $35 includes a package of Carousel Notes and your choice of one package of Designer Series paper. This is just the cover and the first page in the book but it gives you an idea of the project. The best thing is that I created a whole mini scrapbook for my mom and I still have stuff left over from the kit! In my opinion its a huge bang for your buck. Here's the last one for today. This is a 6x6 scrapbook page that I had intended to enter into a contest that Stampin' Up! (R) was having but then I missed the deadline.

The picture is of my son at 7 months old. Its hard to believe he is 5 1/2 now. Time flies. The As are stamped in versamark and some of them are embossed with white embossing powder while others were left alone. Then I used my brayer to cover the entire sheet with Brocade Blue ink for a nice versamark resist effect.

I made this card to cheer someone up who was sick. The frog spins down the blue slit all the way to the bottom.

I will try and get ambitious here soon and post directions on how to make spinner cards.

I finally did it! I started a blog. Pretty scary for me, technologically challenged as I am. I mean I don't even know how to text message on my cell phone. I'm looking forward to sharing some of my creations really soon but first I have to stop slacking off at work. I promise to post pictures soon.
